What's an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner?

Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners are non-partisan, unpaid locally elected representatives who serve as a part of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). The ANC’s main job is to be the neighborhood's official voice in advising the District government on matters that affect the community.
